Hi,
Your patch wouldn't apply on current -dev version. And I didn't manage to make it work after applying it manually.
I ended using the following one (with the addition of $item['module'] = 'menu';). Could you confirm it works?

This patch is part of the #1day1patch initiative.

Actually, it should be the other way around: Menu First Child could insert itself into Content Menu using the hook. It's totally possible, and would prevent Content Menu from being required to follow Menu Firstchild eventual implementation change... What do you think?
