Hi.
I've searched about this but I haven't found anything applicable so here's the question here instead. Hopefully someone has done something similar and can help me with this.
Here's the question before you lose interest in reading the text: Is there some way to get drupal to clean up the database for me, or perhaps to reinstall and restore the correct data?

Now some background.
I started using drupal around 4.6 somewhere and I have been experimenting with a lot of different modules, installing, removing, reinstalling, upgrading stuff. Then I moved to 4.5, did a rinse-repeat of the module things and finally upgraded to 5 and then 5.1.
Now it seems that I have a lot of unneeded tables and things in my database. Probably because of my inability to do things right when I was learning drupal (which is an ongoing process). What I'd like to do is a completely new installation with only the basic modules installed, but I don't want to lose the blogposts and other useful/correct data.

So, the question again. Is there some way to get drupal to clean up the database for me, or perhaps to reinstall and restore the correct data?

Any hints on how to do this would be much appreciated.

I upgraded from 4.6 to 4.7 then 5 and 5.1. Nothing else. Just to make things clear.

In a bit of shameless promotion, have you tried the Site Documentation module? It does some clean up and may at least make it easier for you to find what else is excess so you can manually clean it up.
