Is it possible to modify the taxonomy_browser so that it will search within a category and all terms under that category? It could just be a checkbox under the Scope bit in the browser page.

That would be a great enhancement to search within a term exclusively or including all its subterms as well. It would be very nice if that could be choosen for each enabled vocabulary.

Are you asking for this in the settings page or on the selection page so that the user could have the option of including child terms?

Okay, you get both. On the settings page there is an option on whether to allow the user to include child terms. I that is selected, then the "Category Browser" page will have a check box that the user may select to include child terms. The code to pick up child terms is recursive, so it should go infinitely deep into the vocabulary; it will also automatically remove duplicate terms from a multiple hierarchy vocabulary.
