Not all the selected modules are being shown in the sky theme, design issue or defect in the theme

Issue Summary

I have started my first theme of Drupal 7 with the sky theme, but I can't explain why not all the modules I have selected are not shown. For example the left sidebar is missing the search bar while it should be visable.

What is going wrong, a design issue for a beginner or a defect in the theme?
If needed I can give a the admin password by e-mail.

Honestly, I haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

This message was also posted directly to you by using the contact form. I have send you there also the login information for the testsite, so You can check it out your self.

Hello Jeff,

I have a question for you about the sky theme, I do it this way, because you didn't know what I mentioned with my question using the Issue list.

The width of the theme is standard set to 960 pixels, but I expect that there is also a limition in the length of the page.
With width I mean the screen from left to right and with the length I mean top - Bottem. The width of 960px is ok, but I would like to have the length flexiabel so it grows (left sidebar and main content area, depending on how much space the modules do need to have.

In the backend (structure - blocks) I have said that I would in the left sidebar the following modules:

1. Searchbar
2. Navigation
3. User Login
4. Own image block with advertisment.

If you go to my site: www.heegsma.nl you see that block 2,3, 4 are shown, but not the search bar, if you are not logged in as admin.

If I am logged in as Admin, the user login block is disperring and than the searchbar is showing up, navigation and the image block.

So it seems that only three modules at the same time can be shown on the left sidebar instead of what I was expecting that the length of the left sidebar and main content area was flexiable and will grow in length not in width with the modules I would like to have in the left sidebar. So not 3 but all 4 are shown if I am not logged in.

You can see it for your self if you would like by going to the testsite (www.heegsma.nl) and you can use the admin login Ihave send to you in a private message (site is a dutch version of Drupal)

I have tryed to discuss this issue on the IRC chat channel #drupal Adaptive Theme and #drupal-themes, but I didn't got any responds to discuss this.

I hope this may help to clarify my question a bit more, if this is a design issue and I need to change something or that the current theme can not have a flexibel length and a fixed width of 960pixels.

Yours Sincerely,
Johan Heegsma

Hello Jeff,

A other word of length could be the height of the leftside bar and main content area.
It seems that the height of the div is fixed what is causing that only 3 of the 4 selected modules are visable.
What I would expect that the leftsidebar and the maincontent area are getting bigger if the content doesn't have space available.

Yours Sincerly,
Johan Heegsma

I suggest you learn Drupal - this:

If you go to my site: www.heegsma.nl you see that block 2,3, 4 are shown, but not the search bar, if you are not logged in as admin.
If I am logged in as Admin, the user login block is disperring and than the searchbar is showing up, navigation and the image block.

Is perfectly normal.

1. Why would the login block show if I am logged in?
2. By default search is NOT enabled for Anon users, you have to set the permission for it.

NOTE: neither of these things is THEME related, at all, nothing, not even close. If you need basic support for I suggest you read the Drupal handbooks, use the forums or perhaps purchase one of the many commercial help packages such as http://drupalize.me/.

Issue seems not to be a theme setting as suggest, but drupal core.
Problem solved, this item can been closed.
