Taxonomy assignments to a node are just ignored after saving (for new nodes or editing existent ones).
Switching back to PHP 4.4.4 this doesn't occur, all taxonomy associations are saved ok as expected.
Backgroud info:
Drupal 5.1, Apache 1.3.37, PHP 5.2, MySQL 4.1.22
