Location and FBSS

Hey guys, icecreamyou discussed briefly using hook form alter at http://drupal.org/node/675082 to integrate location into fbss similar to what you would see on Twitter. I'm a newbie when it comes to code but I'm keen to learn.can anyone give me some pointers whereto start? Thanks, Rick
