Set default region per content type

Is it possible to set the default region to insert the node into when creating a piece of content to be inserted into a block? Right now, when creating a node that should appear in a block, the user has to manually set this under 'Nodes in Bock' tab on the node creation form.

I have created a content type that should only ever appear in the sidebar as a block, so it would be good to have this region already pre-selected and avoid the user skipping over this setting and assuming there must be a bug as their content doesnt appear as they think it should.
