ALT TEXT for images is important information for people with disabilities who use screen readers and similar assistive technology when accessing web pages. [

When a user uploads or submits an image to be displayed in a blog post, article page, event etc, the user is not able to provide ALT TEXT.

rosemarymann commentedThanks for noting this. We're using the media selector which doesn't as yet support this, see #1553094: Alt and Title support for Images
Once that's applied, we'll ensure our content types allow the ALT TEXT option.

nedjo#1553094: Alt and Title support for Images is now fixed, so it's possible to add alt text when editing media files. Work remains on #1307054: Accessibility - Media browser image alt and title fields, so marking this a duplicate of that issue.
