I'm trying to find out whether it is possible to display fields of related entities. Example: A user could see his friends on his own user page (name, image etc).

Ultimately I'm looking for a way to create a "related products" implementation for the commerce project. Evey product page should also display some related products as blocks or grid in the main content or sidebar. Relationships could be something like "similar product" or "product bundle member".

I couldn't find anything on how to design the output of the relations. Any hint appreciated.

Views, I believe would work well. Create a view of products, add your relationship (backwards if directional) and add a contextual filter to the other end.
