Just a few ideas of an alternative form UI using the inline wysiwyg editor eventually chosen.

Features include:

  • blocks can be added though the dropdown UI - so there is no longer a need for the blocks page - so everything to do with layout is set on this page
  • Theme template is imported and content is typed directly into the template areas

These are minimal changes that hopefully could make a difference providing a central location to add and order content. Bye bye blocks page!

Newer version with a few tweaks features still the same.

This is part of the scope of Spark: http://buytaert.net/announcing-spark-authoring-improvements-for-drupal-7... :)

However, we will not do this "on the back-end", the goal is to have all this on the front-end, with as little UI as possible (to make sure it looks exactly like it will look when it will be saved/applied.

So, while we very much appreciate your effort here, I'm afraid it's off the intended path. The relevant issue is this one: #1564856: Improve drag-and-drop content layout tools. Please follow that issue and as soon as you see that one becoming more active, we're very much looking forward to your feedback! Or, if you have the time, we'll of course welcome your thoughts on how to do that right now already!
