Two possibilities come to mind. (These were what I tried to find before posting on drupal-devel yesterday.)

tangent commentedThis is still needed. I had just come here (probably not for the first time) to submit a bug to have this feature added because I never remember that it exists.
tangent commentedJust to clarify, I would like to be able to subscribe to individual issues without needing to subscribe to an entire module, or worse yet to all Drupal issues. The requested issue seems to have resolved while mine has not so I'll open a new issue.

dwwbump. ;) this is still an issue, as evidenced by http://drupal.org/node/126774
ideas from that issue:
1) add some stuff about this to the user's profile form (not ideal, since many users never look at that once they create their account).
2) yet another option: a block could appear (on d.o, for example, between the navigation menu and the "contributor links") whenever you're looking at issue queues, or composing an issue or follow-up, which had some useful links we want people to see, including the subscribe stuff. just a thought.
anyway, it'd be nice to come up with a good solution for this...

hunmonk commentedsome progress: i've committed a patch to 5.x and 6.x that adds a 'Subscribe to issues' link in the Support section of the project page, and deployed to drupal.org.
