either goto administer -> post settings and set teaser length to unlimited or use a
<!--break-->tag at the enf of your node after you've typed up all the content. What get's peoples attention is a clearly worded title that explains your problem. see: Tips for posting to the Drupal forums

I did this- and i am still having the same problem- perhaps i need to run something so that it affects everything that was already posted before this change? How do i do this? I don't understand what you had said about the break tag.

My mind was on another node I was helping in, : ) my apologies if you read this non relevant information. Follow Michelles advice below.
Resubmit
When you change the teaser length, you need to edit and resubmit existing nodes.
The break tag is a way of manually telling Drupal where to break that overrides whatever teaser length you have set.

OK, i know what you guys mean with the break tag- but how do i get drupal to add that automatically at the end of every post?
Not automatic
The break tag is something you can put in manually if you want to break in a different spot. There's no way (through the UI - you could do it in SQL probably) to add it to all posts.
