I've got a blog in mind for something other project. Going to start small, and maybe add other features later. But to start, I need a simple blog with comments and the ability to easy add "pages" (as in WP, where it very easily allows you to set up and modify hierarchal page structures). I'd just go do a WP blog to start, but given the potential for expansion in the future, I'm thinking about Drupal. But, Drupal seems so complicated to me compared to WP for a blog. Is it really? Is there a set up procedure for someone like me ( not a Drupal developer) to just set up a regular blog with all the appropriate pieces (including content pages), or do I need to install, add modules, etc.?

Note: thinking of Drupal for future expansion; otherwise I'd do a simple blog with WP.

For basic functionality it doesn't matter which one to use. Install wamp5 to have server capabilities for testing at home, and take Drupal for a test drive.

All you need is to activate in administrative menu blog module and you're set. You also might want to activate taxonomy for categorizing your posts. Some of the modules need configuring, but thats pretty easy and well documented here in Handbooks and forums. All of this is done in the admin menu, no coding required.

Also you get built-in statistics and a lot of other useful stuff that you can activate the same way.

Visit this great site to get clearer picture how easy it is to make more advanced things with Drupal theartlab.net It helped me a lot.

I've also tried WP at first, but found that it's a pain to add more functionality without php knowledge. In Drupal most of the things I wanted already were implemented in contributed user modules.
