It would be nice to document on your project page that there is similar code elsewhere people might be interested in using (maybe you have/haven't seen it, could be useful for you too).

Cool, I didn't realise there was D8 work for this underway already. It's one of those areas where I think c'mon, rule 34 must apply, surely…but couldn't find anything in the module list on d.o.

I'll leave this open - if anyone finds any other similar modules, please chime in!
I'll update the module page with comparisons once this module has functional code.
