@fellow: I don't think it is really useful: usually we will insert ads into content (capture more focus) but not comment (people may not read all comments or just skip them).
Moreover, as Google only allow maximum 3 ads within single page, your comment may usually not have enough quota for display ads.
IMHO, this issue is by design and so won't fix. Please reopen it if you have any else suggestion :D
I would love to see this feature. I'm using the module in a drupal based forum and the comments are most of the content there. I use the content injector but it would be great if I can set every second/third or whatever post on a page to be an ad banner for example.
