I was getting the above warning because I had display errors set in the php.ini file.

The overlay in panels used to access settings has a problem dealing with these php messages and effectively hangs so you no longer are able to access settings or add content to panels from the forums. It looks a lot like a WSOD.

I turned off the display php errors and was able to access the settings using the overlay.

Is this a bug or its expected you wont want to show PHP errors in your display?

How is this related to Advanced Forum?

The only problem I had with panels with the PHP error messages set to display is when I tried to add content to a layout in panels from the available Advanced Forum content options.

I could add content to layouts in Panels using other modules but not Advanced Forum.

So it suggests that Advanced Forum is not handling the output of the PHP errors in the same way as other modules.

Not sure what to do with this one. More information was given but not enough to really go on. I can't think of any reason why AF would handle PHP errors any differently than any other module. Have you looked into this any more since June?
