hacking site user list

Hi
Is it possible to change the site user list so that it displays a drop down menu with all the college departments. What i would like to do is, create a drop down menu list with all the department names, when the user selects the department , all the students in that particular department should get displayed

How about...
Using the User Tags module instead of a hack. You might also want Refine by Taxonomy.

wat about profile module
hi,
i think you can do the same from profile module. if you put any title to that profile field it will automatically display you a page with all the users in that department.
