New Theme: LiteJazz

roopletheme - July 20, 2007 - 02:28

Hello all! I've added a new theme to the CVS bank called LiteJazz. You can find the project page here. LiteJazz 0.11 is an alpha version of a theme released to coincide with the launch of roopletheme.com. You can read the site announcement here.

This is our first released Drupal theme, and it's still a work in progress. This release started out as a proof-of-concept project, and is essentially a merged port of a couple of drupal sample templates and some old joomla code. But we're happy enough with where we are at this early stage to share it with you in hopes of gaining some constructive criticism. We have a ways to go before it is 'drupal friendly', but our early goals were to develop the parts of the theme necessary to support the demo site.

We have big plans for this theme and this site. We would love to hear your opinions!

Thanks,
Roople

Speechless!

This is an awesome theme.

The simple switch between fix and fluid makes my day.

The simple PNG IE fix is serious stuff.

The documentation is a candy.

Congratulations!

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. We've put a lot of work into the entire package.

By the way, your site is beautiful!

Oh, this is great, for me

Oh, this is great, for me the biggest drawback to Drupal is the seeming lack of designers in the community, this is a serious jump in quality over most available themes, good job and thank you! I can't wait to gleam some techniques of this great ui.

Configuration problem with LiteJazz

hardieas - July 20, 2007 - 04:26

In Themes, Litejazz, Configure, I don't get the Theme Specific Settings block - the page ends with the Shortcut Icon Settings block. Also, none of the blocks are collapsible, as shown in the screenshot on the RoopleTheme demo site. Am using FireFox 2.0.0.5 and IE 6.0.

re: Configuration problem

In order for the theme specific settings block to appear, you need to install and enable the ThemeSettingsApi module. There's a tutorial on how to do this here.

The blocks collapse based on the regions that you publish your blocks in. For example, if you do not publish a block to regions User1, User2, or User3, then the top "blue" section of blocks collapse... that is, they are not displayed and the rest of the content fills their absence.

I hope this helps.

It does, but...

hardieas - July 20, 2007 - 08:49

I think it would be helpful to others if the dependency was mentioned on this page:
http://demo.roopletheme.com/litejazz/InstallLiteJazz
It's not quite "just install LiteJazz"...

Also, of course, it would be good if there was a way for the dependency to be shown on the theme select page, in the same way that module dependencies are shown on the modules page...

No dependency

roopletheme - July 20, 2007 - 18:03

The theme is not dependent on any module. It will work correctly without installing the themesettingsapi module. However, it will operate with extended functionality if the themesettingsapi module is installed. We're not trying to play word games... we just want to be accurate.

We updated the project page to mention that litejazz uses the themesettingsapi module in order to provide this functionality. We feel that the installation instructions on the demo page make this point clear, but we'll look at ways to make it more obvious.

We appreciate you taking the time to look at LiteJazz, and we appreciate your input. We will continue to improve the theme and its documentation as we receive comments and suggestions from users.

Region are collapsible, not blocks

xmacinfo - July 20, 2007 - 05:01

They do not mean JavaScript collapsible blocks. They rather mean region are collapsible if no block are displayed inside them.

For example, if you publish a block in the region 'User 1', the content of the block will be displayed inside a large horizontal blue background. Remove the block, the blue region will collapse, or hide.

Great job and thank you
