It would be very practical if the issues that are listed on project release notes pages had a background color on the issue number, indicating which are major or critical issues. (Normal could stay as-is with white/no bg color).

Perhaps even the category also could be given background color (on the text, not the issue number)?
For example green for feature requests, gray for tasks, leave as-is (white/none) for bugs?

Would this pose a performance concern?

I really can't see any performance problems with this.

Juggling colors can be difficult... Can you provide a couple examples of where this might be useful?

Maybe even with a screenshot.. It always helps to be able to visualize this.

The background color for issue links is already used for the issue status. I guess this means this feature request will not be implemented.
