Description

Site User List is an excellent module. I like, especially it's flexible display style. But I noticed that the "Members" module is doing more or less the same. Members module has some cool features which this one doesn't, and vice-versa. For instance, Members module displays values from Profile module as links (which is VERY useful), while this one doesn't. Also Members-module allows display by roles, it allows customizable pageination, ability to create more than one type of list, as well as many other features, but it lacks the Search or Display functionality as "Site User List". Plus, Members-module is not as customizable in its display options as this module. In short, both modules are very cool, but could really suplement each other if the efforts are joined.

Therefore, I propose that the two modules and "Site User List" and "Members" are merged into one very flexible and highly customizable module!!!

I have also proposed to Memebers module to have a variety of little Icons to be displayed in the listings: "Add to buddylist" (if that user is not already in the buddylist), "An envelope icon" (which will take to that users contact page), "Blog", "Track"... and whatever rating system there is "karma" or "user expertise".

I guess I would agree with this proposal. I like this module very much, though it doesn't quite do what I would like. I have an existing Alumni site with over 1500 users, and User Import looks like it will work great to get my DB into Drupal, but I would like to create menu items that query the user DB based on a field (like school class of) rather than try and display 1500 users and then filter the table. The Members module does some of this, though I don't think it will let you set a filter first either.

To see an example of what I currently do, check www.waynealumni.org/70semail.php

I'm not a programmer, and my PHP/MySQL skills are limited. I was hoping to convert my site to Drupal, but don't think I can accomplish what I want right now.

The work going on here is impressive, and I am using Drupal for another site.

Bump.

If these 2 projects were merged, it'd be a great solution for profile searching and display.
Right now, they are each half the task (though, to be fair, Site User List can be made through templating to look more like Members... but not quite as good otherwise)
