Sites like the ones using phpbb-openid and ekudos.nl refuse the openID url provided by this module.
The messages are:
OpenID authentication failed: not a valid OpenID URL.
or: No OpenID endpoint found

All Drupal sites accept it.

I would recommend using the openid_provider module in this case.
