I have a medium to large project. Using Drupal appears to be a possibility I would like to find out how much time and Money can be spared by adopting Drupal over a custom version of a cms? I'm not sure how it could be down with Drupal, but developers assure me a custom made cms is far better, however looking around here I'm starting to wonder. To summaries I need a forum, userareas, internal mail, some applications- I think can be done with php, integrated with paypal, my skype (just the skype me app), a video or flash tour of the site. a database for users profiles, and a separate database for users to upload files for sharing, a billing system that is linked to activity within the site on one of the applications. the admin zone needs to be able to organize the forum- from what i have seen this is a piece of cake with Drupal. Also need to organize uploads into the database to insure content is appropriate. Two application forms to create profiles that attach to their respective user areas set up by the admin and a sort of crm to manage new applications and the corresponding profiles.

Thanks

Drupal is a Content Management Framework. With a good development team behind you, you can build this.

- Video / Flash Tour is more of an integration
- For Billing / Subscription/ files sharing, you have to define clearly the workflow - There are lots of ways this can be built
- Internal Mail ( if this is more for logged in users ) - Is Privatemsg going to fulfill your need? Best approach will be Zimbra Integration - not sure if it exists - at least I don't know about it
- CRM - We have got some work done on Drupal and SugarCRM integration plus there is also a module for the same.

If you have requirements laid out, one of my team member would be happy to give you some solutions.

Drupal is going to give you a great head start over custom CMS for sure. You will get quite a lot of functionality out of the box with Drupal Core and all the contributed modules available.
