Would it be possible to add a 'break' button to the formatting bar, so that the text can be broken for teasers.

Here's a button I made for HTMLArea which you're welcome to use:

For starters you might use this plugin

installation is a lot of manual work (as is still usual for fckeditor at the moment)
and it only works partly (invisible in wysiwyg mode, no html cleanup for the teasers)

so usage is not for the faint of heart...
