How do I set get directions to automatically open in a new tab or in a popup/colorbox?

The README tells you how to open Getdirections in a colorbox.
To get any URL to open in a new browser tab/window you need to set the 'target' attribute to something like '_blank'
This is difficult to do in a regular menu but is simple enough in a block,page or view.
