Wow! This is a VERY handy module.

One question: what happens when a contrib or core module whose form(s) I've edited with Form Defaults is updated? Will my changes still appear? What happens if form elements are removed or renamed? Are my edits keyed off of the name or some other designator for the element? (I just want to make sure I understand how this works because I anticipate getting ALOT of use out of it.)

One observation: I searched high and low for a way to edit forms and almost didn't find this module. Maybe you could consider renaming it so more people find it -- I know others will find it useful.

The answer to your question is that as long as the upgrade does not change the identifier (i.e. the field name) of the form field, your changes will still be there after an upgrade. This module doesn't modify any of the source code.

I actually went to the developers list to name this, and they suggested form defaults over form editor to keep form confusing it with a module used for forms development. I'll try and change the module description so that it comes up better in search results.
