I've just starting using the "revision" feature built in to core and avialable via tbe "publishing options" section of every "create content" form.

Very nice!!!

Are there plans to add a compare/diff tool to the revision interface? That would be awesome!

Or has someone created a module to add that functionality?

Revisions and Diff are already available as contrib modules. Just have a look at this Lullabot Videocast.
