Hi everyone,

I have a headache... fr awhile now I've tried to get Drupal to work... It downloaded alright but opening it has been an issue...

My computer doesn't seem to like the expansion, .GZ

whenever I tried to open it took me to a site in which I could download more stuff so it would open, I tried and that didn't work,

the one I downloaded was winace....

Is there another way I can open it...

I really want to start my site :) so all advice is appreciated...

PS. I don't have WIN zip is that the reason?

Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)

It's free and really easy to use, when you've installed it right click the Drupal file and go to 7zip >>extract here then repeat it on the file that appears (drupal.tar)

which file do I download, there are 4 choices?

ok, I did it I extracted the file...

it now comes up as a file with lots of icons in it, which one do I click?

sorry, really new to this...

C:\Documents and Settings\kk\Desktop\drupal-5.1

that is the place where I'm at...

Do you have a local webserver running on your PC? as you will need this to get started (http://drupal.org/node/131585)
If not, try wosportable (http://tinyurl.com/ywxqgh) this can run off your PC or USB pen drive and can install Drupal for you to practice

You will still need to follow normal instructions for setting up Drupal (http://drupal.org/node/258)
