Hi everyone
I have developed excelexperts.com with drupal 6 and a standard theme / standard modules.
- the website has free Excel / VBA tips, a forum, and a few other bits and pieces
I'd like to improve the look and feel on the main page to make it a lot more customer-friendly.
- icons instead of links in the main content
- instead of links on the left hand side, I'd like to remove those and replace with dropdown menus under the top banner
Ideas to improve the look and feel appreciated.
Thanks !
Nick

yowsa... bluemarine? really? Sorry but if I stumbled upon a site using bluemarine I wouldn't think they were 'experts' in anything, lol. There's so many modern attractive themes in the downloads area the first thing I would recommend is get a new theme.
I like the concept except for
I like the concept except for the theme. Look for a better theme.
I am certainly not a Drupal
I am certainly not a Drupal expert.. but I can simulate 100 Million games of poker in a spreadsheet... ; - >
Can anyone help me find a better theme ?
Thanks !

icons instead of links
I'm certainly no drupal expert either, but I think I can help you with your "icons instead of links in the main content" issue.
.1. Identify problem
.. A. I am assuming that the "main content" that you are referring to is the central column on your homepage.
.. B. I am assuming that the links you would like to change are the blue text links such as "Skype Us" and "Nick."
.. C. I am assuming that this central column is (by drupal's terms) a page or a story.
.. D. I am assuming that you have the CKeditor module installed.
.2. Locate problem (This part should be obvious; it's simply for clarity).
.. A. Log in as Admin
.. B. Open page editor by clicking...
... 1. Content Management
.... a) Content
..... i) edit (under operation next to the name of your homepage)
.. C. Under "Body" you should see the entire text of your homepage.
.3. Fix problem
.. A. Highlight a link that you want to swap with an icon with your cursor. (Don't swear.)
... 1. Be sure you remember/write down the address that this link redirects to.
.. B. Right click on the link.
.. C. Click "Unlink."
.. D. Click the little image link in the menu above the text. (It should look like a landscape with a house, sun, and grass.)
.. E. Enter the url of the icon you want in the appropriate field and click OK.
... 1. You will probably want to adjust the size of the icon.
.. F. Highlight the icon and click the little link link in the menu above the text. (It should look like a globe with a chain on the bottom.)
.. G. Enter the url I had you remember/write down in step 3.A.1.
.. H. Click OK
.. I. Scroll down out of the "Body" section. There should be a drop-down menu link titled Input Format.
.. J. Click Input format.
.. K. Click Full HTML
.. L. Scroll down and click Preview.
.. M. Scroll down and click Save.
I probably over-explained that, but at least it should be clear. Ask me if you need more info., etc. Who knows...I might even have an answer;-)
(sorry about the formatting)
Many thanks
Many many thanks..
I will take a look at this fantastic explanation.
