A pretty basic real estate site. The client had a FrontPage powered site that badly needed updating. The site looked dated and they were also having trouble updating the site using FrontPage. Their main request was the ability to have several images for each listing (they used to be able to have just one image per listing on the old site). I was given job and I did it using Drupal.

Modules I'm using:

  • CCK for some pretty basic custom content types.
  • Imagefield to attach images to each listing node.
  • Imagecache to generate thumbnails, and slide-show pictures
  • Contemplate to make control how the listing looks in teaser and full views.
  • Mootools and Slimbox for the slide-show. These aren't Drupal modules but I'm making contemplate spit out the proper html Slimbox is looking for.
  • Token and Auto_nodetitle to generate node titles based on user-supplied listing number.
  • Pathauto
  • Views to display listings based on category and for the 5 most recent listings on the front page.

All comments, questions and suggestions are welcome!

Thank you!

Sean

Very nice slideshows. Just wondering if this site integrates with an MLS system, or if it's standalone?

Thanks! It's standalone. They have a pretty small number of listings and didn't need integration with any MLS system.

When I view the site using Firefox 2.0.0.5 the images don't display in the slideshow. Works great with IE 6.0 though.

Nice! I did something similar here; http://www.livinginlemarche.com which uses a custom nodetype, but the idea is the same. I quite like the way you did the multiple pictures, a nicer way than how I did it I think!

Hey sean2000 I am a DRUPALITE !! in training with absolutely no background in web design especially open source...but i am in the long process of learning from scratch with a mentor. I am currently in the process of building a my first website ever a real estate website that needs a listing functionality. Under my mentors advice, I typed in real estate listing and found your site. I would really like to know how you started building the listing functionality. I thank you in advance Enoch DeMar neo-Drupalite
