When upgrading drupal 5.1 to 5.2 I got trough steps 1 to 10. But how to put the drupal installation back to online mode (step 11) again? When I try to access any page I get the site offline message...

Thanks.

If you can't access your site at all because it's offline try entering www.yoursite.com/?q=user and then log in as admin and go to 'site maintainance' and turn it back online.

I have just upgraded from 5.6 to 5.10, and can't get online again. I tried the above but get a 404 message. I still have the offline admin screen in my browser from before the upgrade, and when I select online I again get 404.

I can see the home page and other story nodes.

http://www.mysite.com/?q=admin also works (and displays the 'Operating in off-line mode.' message). However, click on any of the admin options gives me a 404. I did manage to run update.php after the upgrade.

Any suggestions please?

Sorry for posting prematurely. I managed to get back online (see via a MYSQL query - http://drupal.org/node/56995).

Now it seems that the problem is that many pages give me a 404 even when online. I will try comparing file sizes for upload failures. One other factor is that I disabled all the modules as per upgrade instructions and now can't switch them on again (this admin page also gives me a 404). Any suggestions please?

Problem fixed - I didn't upload the files in the drupal root directory - please feel free to cringe at this user who posted prematurely and solved their own problem! Sorry

... but those who fix their own problems & don't bother to post their solution are a minor drain on the community. Thanks for doing the right thing.
