Description

Hi!

When I look at my Dashboard at the http:bl I don't see any visits from Harvesters or Spambots? Does this module give feedback? If not, could you implement such a feature?

Kind regards,
Thomas

Could you specify what you mean by 'Dashboard'?
The module currently only gives feedback through the watchdog log.

Sorry for being inaccurate. When I go to the Project Honey Pot website e.g. via the "IP Data" link from the log entries, http:bl generates in Drupal, I can see some statistics including how many Harvesters hit my site, Comment Spam Posts, etc. All these values stay at 0, even with many log entries within Drupal saying that there have been such visits.

What I am asking for is a the capability to inform Project Honey Pot of visits from Harvesters, etc. I think this would give them the chance to identify new Harvesters, too. Not only by checking fake emails (the http:bl Module provides this functionality already- I'm very grateful for that) but sending postings from harvesters to Project Honey Pot.

I hope this time I was not as confusing as the last time. ;-)

There is no API to inform Project Honey Pot of such visits. What the module does, though, is link to your Honeypot (be sure to enter its location in the module's configuration) which will act as a trap for spambots/harvesters.

If you see no visits in the Project Honey Pot dashboard, it means that no bots have visited your Honeypot (but as I said, please check if it's configured properly).

Ok, this is what I wanted to know. I configured it correctly and all Feedback which can be sent, does so.

BTW: A real big thank you for this awesome module! It saves me lots of Spam, which doesnt get trapped by the "spam" module.

Great module, I think. Not sure I'm using it correctly as I have registered on www.projecthoneypot.org but am not sure what is the link to "my" honeypot. Is it the location of my script? Sorry to be dense, but this is brave new territory for me.

Once you register at Project Honey Pot, you get 1) a http:BL access key and 2) a Honey Pot which you should install on your site. The module configuration requires you to enter both; the URL asked is the location of the Honey Pot you installed (or a QuickLink, for that matter).

Thanks. I did all that and this works really fine for me.

What caused my posting was this:

On http://www.projecthoneypot.org/home.php it stays
...
# Harvester visits to your site(s): 0
# Recent visits (this week): 0
...
# Comment spam posts to your site(s): 0

even when Drupal logs many blacklisted IPs.

Check if you have entered the honeypot location correctly and verify that the honeypot works (last one can be checked through the Project Honey Pot site).

I must say that I also nearly always have 0 recent visits although there are usually 30 blocks each day.
