I seem to be having a mental block on this one. How do I hide the published date and author from a certain node type (e.g. about nodes should not show the date they were created or who wrote them).

I'm sure I have done this before but I can't remember how to do it. Also, drupal.org search seems to be MIA.

Never mind - it's done on the theme configuration page. A bit of a strange place if I may say so but there you go.

When I went to the theme configuration page (version 5.2, theme Garland/Minelli) I could only find a global setting to turn off the author and date authoring information. I could not find a place that allowed me to turn that stuff off for stories in a specific category (eg. About). Am I missing something that you found?

You can create a separate content type called About, and in the GLOBAL theme configuration area, leave that type checked to show authoring information.
