After updating to the latest version, there are layout errors. The selection widget is now above the browse view, and all checkboxes needed to select the items went out of the selection widget to be below the exposed filter:

I am using an exposed taxonomy filter and a regular filter, both are now working correctly.

BTW, picture fields can be easily added in the content type display definitions (entity reference view widget display definitions).

The 1.x branch is no longer maintained because the codebase had many issues.
The 2.x branch is a complete rewrite taking into account all known issues. Please test and use that one instead.
