Multiple Comment Types per Content Type?

Would it be very difficult to have this module allow more than one comment type per content type? It would be great, for example, in a post to allow users to reply with say a 'personal memory' (copy) or a 'travel photo' (media/photo) as distinct content types.

Perhaps this is already possible and I just couldn't see how to do it with the bundled UI?
