In version 7.x-3.x-dev of June 10 2012 I keep getting this error. Also sometimes I get the same for the links_attributes variable on line 40 (Notice: Undefined variable: links_attributes in include() (line 40 of sites/all/themes/sky/templates/node.tpl.php).) I guess they are related.

Did you upgrade or do a clean install?

You need to run the 7.x-3.x-dev version of Adaptivetheme, RC2 is outdated and will give undefined variable notices for these variables. My apologies for not documenting this change more openly.
