I have been trialling pay-per-node for a few days now and it is working great with ecommerce.
Once a pay-per-node product is purchased by an authenticated user, they can create the node as specified by the pay-per-node product.
One thing I have noticed though is that when an authenticated user is creating the node and they press the preview button, the preview is not displayed. The page seems to reload but the preview is not shown. The node however is successfully created by pressing the Submit button.
When logged in as an administrator, the preview works fine.
I then gave authenticated users the rights to create the standard "page" node. Previewing a page node works, so it looks like the standard drupal code is working. It looks like when creating a node via pay-per-node, it does not have permissions to preview a node?
I'm using drupal 5.2.

I found this problem on our site, and with the help of the forums isolated the problem to a bad Ecommerce module. The specific one was ProductAPI, and disabling it brought the preview function back to life. Doing an update to the newest of the EC packages (5.2-v3.3) fixed the bug. Hope this helps you, too.

I've tried both of these methods and preview still doesn't work for me. I even tried disabling ecommerce and, unfortunately, preview doesn't work then either.
I'm using pay-per-node 5.x-1-dev and ecommerce 5.x-3.3.
Any suggestions?

I have installed the latest version of Paypernode and eCommerce v3.4 on a clean Drupal 5.7 install and still the preview for paypernode products does not work. Everything else works great except the preview.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Please advise.

Try switching back to a Drupal standard theme and see if you have that problem again. I found that some custom themes are breaking the preview output. Good luck.

I appreciate your suggestion, seaneffel. Unfortunately, after testing it with both Garland and Bluemarine the node preview still didn't work.
Any other suggestions?
