Hi, I want to build a website for a school with a number of specific capabilities and am wondering if Drupal is the right choice for the job. Maybe someone can help me out.

Besides the basic functions of the CMS (like the admin being able to publish blogposts and content) I would like a front end user (student) to be able to register and then create their own profile where they can upoad some pictures and others can comment on the pictures.
Also, when a user registers, they will have to choose the class they belong to (e.g. B3). Then, the admin must be able to send an email to specifiec classes of choose to send an email to all registered users.
Also a forum chat and globel picturegalleries have to be part of the site.
I would like to use only existing modules as I am not much of a programmer myself.
Thanks

Joomla can do this, and might be easier to get up fast...

Drupal can do this quite easily with:

- Image module
- Forum module
- Profile module
- Mass Contact module
- and other core modules...
