As a follow-up to http://drupal.org/node/161796, I'm posting this as a separate bug since the misbehaviour can't be fixed yet.
As described, after installation and activation of the Backlinks module, hyperlinks in most newly created and/or edited nodes disappear permanently; deactivating/deleting the backlinks module doesn't help, deleting the backlinks view doesn't help either. As soon as of this writing there are no instructions how to erase all traces of this module from the Drupal database.
This critical error appeared on several separate Drupal installations, and there appears to be no way to repair the damaged sites. Basically, after installing the Backlinks module, five Drupal sites became practically unusable - a website that can't handle internal or external hyperlinks is no website anymore.

I can't imagine how backlinks could do this, as it's just a views plugin, and doesn't touch your content at all. Since it doesn't do anything, there's no uninstall script needed. If you still think backlinks caused this problem, you can contact me via http://drupal.org/user/12302 and i'll be happy to look at your sites and see what the trouble is.
