Swish-E Indexer
The Swish-E Indexer module is an implementation of of the open source Swish-E Search Engine (http://www.swish-e.org). This module will index uploaded files and will allow users to search over the full text of those documents.
The module requires the installation of the Swish-E search engine and several different file filters to support fulltext indexing of various file types. The following file types are currently supported:
Microsoft Word -- catdoc
Microsoft Excel -- xls2csv
Microsoft Powerpoint - ppthtml
PDF -- pdftotext
RTF -- unrtf
This module requires access to install several binary files and is probably not suitable for working in a shared web hosting environment.
To accomplish basic searching of files, check out the "Search Files" module - http://drupal.org/project/search_files and for robust searching try Apache SOLR - http://drupal.org/project/apachesolr.
