i thought i might share some experience with Google I've had recently regarding drupal and google indexing pages, what happened was i recently created 2 tutorial sites for different applications with about the same competitiveness.
one site was created 7days ago and the other 3days,
the first site has 100% original content while the other only has around 30% of original content, the newer site for some reason is getting a lot more indexed pages even though it has been online half the time as the first site.
the only difference i had between the two was that the first site Used custom path names with hyphens between names, while the other i left alone and with the default drupal node names.
thats basically it has anyone els experienced this?

it's not that simple
My advice: don't make any conclusions based on a single data point ;)
Google is a monster with a thousand heads, and their algorithms seem to switch things up almost daily. Watch the results for a week or two, you might see things change dramatically. I've seen sites go from #3 to #990 in 24h.
PS: Custom paths are good, but avoid keyword stuffing. The words in your URL should also be used in the text somewhere, preferably the title. The more the URL corresponds with the content, the better.

i wasn't drawing any conclusions i was just sharing what had happen and seeing if anyone els has experienced anything like this :) and i totally agree with you, my site has gone from page 4 to 8 then back to 7 in less then 72h
I read someone's Drupal site
I read someone's Drupal site once that uses the default /node/339 and he was saying it makes little difference what you use. His site does well using /node and he said it's because of content which in SEO is the only thing that really matters. I have seen many Drupal sites stick with /node and it works for them, but I'm no SEO expert. My thinking is since Drupal is so resource intensive, why add a module if you don't have to. SEO is a content thing, I'm more concerned with speed and performance and the fewer modules the better, I'm down to 35 so far.
