i want to disable modal popups, so i have unchecked Enable links in modal window in module config page.

but modal windows still appearing.

I think you don't understand meaning of "Enable links in modal window". If you uncheck this field in modal windows won't be displayed links to another modal windows ('Login', 'Create new account', 'Request new password'). All modal windows will be displayed anyway. If you want to configure links in block so go to /admin/structure/block/manage/ajax_register/ajax_register_block/configure and change settings there. But it is different links (I mean in block and in modal window), do not confuse.
