Installation Problem on Ubuntu Linux 7.04
when point my browser to http://localhost/drupal-5.2/ it gives me following list of warning and errors.
Can someone take a look at this and help me with the installation ?

check settings.php
Check your /sites/default/settings.php file to make sure your database connection info is correct.
Check your mysql db: were there any drupal tables created? If not, your mysql user probably did not have enough permissions. Make sure the user also has permissions to create temporary tables.
Try reinstalling with root as database user and see if this works. If so, the mysql user you used before did not have enough permissions.

If you are trying to do a new installation, use a fresh settings.php file without any settings.
If Drupal finds any database settings in settings.php it assumes that it is an existing installation and does not run the install script to create the tables -- it just tries to use them.
- Uninstalled and
- Uninstalled and reinstalled mySQL and created user 'root'
- kept the settings.php as original now when i point web url to http://localhost/drupal-5.2/ it gives following error

The database type is unsupported. Please use either mysql for MySQL 3.x & 4.0.x databases, mysqli for MySQL 4.1.x+ databases, or pgsql for PostgreSQL databases. The database information is in your settings.php file.

database there but it is empty
These errors occur when the settings.php has correctly logged into MySQL, but the database is empty.
This is occuring for one of the following reasons:
1. This is a new installation and you have created the database, but then erroneously put that info into the settings.php file, as used to be required prior to Drupal 5.x. As another person has said here, the settings.php file should be fresh (untouched), then the installation will be automatic when you provide the database info interactively.
2. You are trying to copy over an installation from another site. You have created the database and untarred or downloaded in some way the drupal file tree; but you haven't inserted the database contents of the other installation to the local database.
