From the QuickTabs project page:

Because Quicktabs provides urls for each tab in a Quicktabs instance (these are used both for graceful degradation without javascript, and for the ability to link to a page with a Quicktabs instance and specify which tab should be active), you may have a problem with the number of URLs being indexed by Google for your site

This post provides a workaround for this: http://2bits.com/bing/how-google-and-bing-crawlers-was-confused-quicktab...

And, there is an issue in the QuickTabs queue for this as well: #354867: SEO: Add Canonical Tags to Quicktab Pages

Looks like we have two options.
1. Documentation.
2. Include robotstxt module and patch core so that julio builds *just work*, as per #1260912: Provide patch to remove core's robots.txt for use in make files

Maybe there are other approaches too.

I strongly prefer option 1. Patching core feels extreme on this.
