Is it possible to have users registration without asking for an e-mail? The user would be presented with two password fields, no e-mail requirement is necessary. Is there a patch or module for this?

usefull in kiosks
I haven't done much searching but I imagine that has been mentioned before. Maybe we should submit a feature request.
This would be very useful in web kiosks, where the user often times does not have the ability to access their email immediately. This pretty much hinders anyone from registering on my web kiosk.
people are lazy
It is also useful because most users are very lazy. A good portion of people surfing through a site would never take the time to do that and could deter possible users. Just my 2 cents
*edit*
I found a quick hack to do this here
I think this would be something that should be considered in the main code and as an option to toggle on and off as mentioned in that other thread
thanks for the hack!
i'm really interested in this too. there should be an option in the site-settings page or user-settings page.
