with AT 5.x-1.0 installed, update_status would
not report availability of AT 5.x-1.x-dev

Are you kidding? This isn't a bug with my module. Have you read the first FAQ on this page http://drupal.org/project/update_status ?

Sorry. Indeed the FAQ says "The update status module does not track the update times of development versions of modules,
whose version numbers are in the form of 5.x-1.x-dev". I assumed that the FAQ was obsolete, as in my update_status page
I see several entries reading "Also available: 5.x-2.x-dev" which, I believe, I did not see for Account Type (I may be wrong).
