Is there a way to automatically scale large images using Image Attach?

Hi all.

After experiencing some bugs with Image Assist, for now, I would like to enable users to attach images using Image Attach without having to worry about the size of their images.

Has someone written a patch or snippet to automatically convert an attached image to say 640 pixels across (if larger than that)?

I am assuming I need some sort of additional code snippit to be added to one of the [filename].tpl.php files (or perhaps create a new one?) and a few lines of style code?

(I am still new to a lot of this, but this is probably the last major hurdle to getting my site up.)

Also not sure if it matters, but I would like the solution to work regardless of what content the image has been added to.
