Hi everyone,

I am about to begin a new website selling paid file downloads as a product.

I have done some reading, and checkning around the module areas, and the forums, however I have not gotten a really clear answer on what is the best way to do things.

For paid file downloads via Drupal, I have choices of Quickfile (which claims to allow near immediate downloads of files for pay, without the need to login or join the drupal website....but appears to be mostly unsupported, or orphaned at this point).

I can also use e-commerce, which I see does have an "anonymous" option, but I am unsure how well it works, and how easy it would be for customers of the website to click and get their downloads once the product is paid for....

The last option appears to be using Ubercart, which, unfortunately the website seems to have lost nearly all content, and I cannot seem to even check the features or extentions of the module...

I am leaning towards e-commerce, but how well do anonymous downloads work ?

Thanks

seanm

There's certainly greater precedent for downloadable products in e-commerce, but rest assured that Ubercart.org is being restored and improved during this rebuilding time. CpILL has been working on exactly what you're looking for, and his contribution will be reposted to the site shortly. You may have to PM him at Ubercart.org about support for anonymous users, though. I don't know how far he's coded that out.

You should consider what sort of administrative tasks you'll be doing on the site. At present, folks choose Ubercart for an easier to use back end... but if you're not really needing a lot of support there you might get quicker results going for an e-commerce setup.
