I'm trying to develop a free professional directory/referral site for a local area and I'm looking for the right modules/components/plugins, needed to create the type of services that are needed. I found a site that I believe operates on Drupal and I am requesting assistance from those of you familiar with these components to select the right ones. The site I am wanting to emulate is at
I know that they are using the joomla forum, but the rest is not identifiable for this novice. They also have an individual webpage for each member of the directory that I want to incorporate in the site along withe ability to publish articles and each member manage their own newsletter, email list, incorporate a location map, etc.
Basically, everything that it is available at this site:
Edit your own listing. You have complete control over how your practice's information is displayed on the site.
Proximity Search. PREVIEW Patients can locate your practice by entering a ZIP code and a radius to search within. (US only in the current release)
Account History. A full log of every change and modification to your listing.
Statistics.
City Shortcuts Slider. PREVIEW Search results contain a pull-down slider panel which includes quick links to the cities which were included in the search results.
Account Management System.
Expanded Practice Description. Enhanced listings have a virtually unrestructed amount of space to describe your practice and your specialties.
Photo Upload. PREVIEW You can upload a photo to displayed within your listing. A thumbnail is also visible within tabular search results.
Additional Information. Extra database entries are available to list your hours, credentials, and more.
Enhanced Listing Pages. PREVIEW Unlike the normal listings, Enhanced Listings are full-page displays, just like a professionally designed homepage.
Color Themes. PREVIEW Enhanced listing pages can select the accent and trim colors from a choice of palletes.
Personalized URL. PREVIEW Your enhanced listing can have it's own address on Find-a-Therapist (i.e. "www.find-a-therapist.com/drsmith.html").
Enhanced Exposure. Links to Enhanced Listings are shown prominently in the "Featured Listings" side-blocks on find-a-therapist.com, and our "Discovery Site": discover.find-a-therapist.com.
Integrated Contact Form. PREVIEW
Integrated Google Maps and Driving Directions.
No Advertising. Hosted banner ads are not shown on listing pages, making it suitable as a standalone web page for your practice.
It would also be great to have a few different templates that individuals can use for their personal page.
I think that some or all of the site is based on Joomla and joomla additions. I know that they are using the joomla forum.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
thanks.

You did not do anything wrong!
For your info, the site is running on Joomla with tons of modifations and add ons.
Have you had a look at the modules section (http://drupal.org/project/Modules)?
You will probably find the modules you will need there. However, you will definately need custom modules if you want all the functionality.

Thanks Joep!
That's part of my problem. I don't care much for Joomla and I like drupal a great deal. I'm trying to determine which modules I can use that currently exist in drupal with out modification. Once I can get that up and running, I can look into getting some of the other sections through modifications.
I found that the site is using SOBI2 for joomla to lay out each individual practioner's information page/directory and a joomla forum.
What drupal module is the equivalent to SOBI2 or close to that particular component for joomla? That by itself would be a great help. Once I can get that, I can probably struggle through the rest of the items.
thanks for you help.
The basic functionality for
The basic functionality for the directory listing can be achieved with custom conten type (module CCK) and the core taxonomy module. You will need the the views module to output your data.
