Let the battle begin!!
post here your best themes to work with 5.x according to your opinion/experience.
Please be so kind to state why you like it so much such as:
- liquid or fixed width design?
- do you swear by divisions or do you still like to use tables?
- IE bugs that you know of?
- what rating would you give it on a scale of 10?
NOTE: rate your best theme using 4.7.x look at: http://drupal.org/node/166247

Theme suggestions
Strange that nobody has answered this topic yet. Given the current download system, which doesn't give any clues about the popularity of themes, the best we can do is to share our own experiences. I remember reading a post about the download counts of top x themes, and most of them started with the letter "A"; which doesn't surprise me :) Every newbie opens the themes section (which is sorted alphabetically) and look a few themes until he/she gets bored :)
As a relatively new drupaler, i like and use CristalX4Drupal. It has a fixed design, but i've modified it to be a little wider.
List of features (taken from project page):
* Standards-compliant XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS.
* CSS layout (tableless).
* Cross browser compatible. Tested with Firefox 2, IE6, Konqueror and Opera 9.
* It requires the PHPTemplate engine.
I've seen some better themes, so i rate this one:
8/10

nice layout and good
nice layout and good structure !!
What I don't get (it is definitely my lack of CSS knowledge) is the paddings used when there is no content necessary for instance in your footer.. no content but padding, why? the exact dimensions are specified and there is a nice bg image.. so? Same for the padding in the wrapper.. actually it's only a container with a bg image, no? or did you want to play with the gradient on the sides?
I like the top and bottom bars a lot !!
Good work dude !!

paddings
Thanks for your comments. I'm not a css or php expert, i usually try to make modifications with trial-error method :) And, yes, I've made some modifications to this theme, but i don't remember touching those parts. They were probably there from the beginning. As far as i can remember, i've added a top login bar, tightened the breadcrumbs bar to 20px; and modified some images to make them 100px wider. When viewing with FF2, there is a huge space under the page; if you know how i can remove it i'd be grateful. Other than this, currently, there isn't any important problem for me.
And also please keep the theme suggestions coming.
not sure what you mean with
not sure what you mean with a "huge space" but what I can see from FF (version 2.x) is that there is a margin-bottom set to 5em in the right sidebar (css.style on line 388) that creates an extra space (maybe unwanted) I guess you should tackle your images ... they are not integrating smoothly.. hope this suggestion helps ;-)

Thanks, i removed that 5em.
Thanks, i removed that 5em. But i was referring to the space under the firefox image. It is of 140px height and only shown in FF. But now i understand why. With firefox i log in to the administration account, therefore the administration menu module shows up at the top. But with IE i log in as a normal user so it's not displayed. I guess this was because of the admin_menu module. Anyway, i guess i'll change the theme eventually, if i can sort out some issues with iTheme :)
100% height
Hey, do you happen to know how to set a 100% height for the entire site so that if there is no content it still stretches out until the bottom of your screen?, a piece of code that works? I tried a thousand things and none seem to work..

min-height
I guess this is what you're looking for:

iTheme
As i mentioned before, i've changed the theme to a new one - iTheme.
It has a fixed design and a 2-columned layout (which can be modified to a 3-columned layout with some css knowledge). It's also CSS-based (tableless). It was originally designed as a Wordpress theme for "the Mac lovers", but ported to Drupal by garamond. iTheme features collapsible sidebar modules (modules collapse when clicked on their titles).
I find iTheme more stylish and user-friendly than Cristalx4Drupal so i rate it:
9/10You can see it in action here:
