As you can see, the loading images are as large as the block containing the image. How can I fix this? Thanks..

I think that might be more of a feature request, since currently the only way you can attain that functionality is to hack the module.

I'll go ahead and use this thread as the feature request thread.

I'm envisioning this to be resolved as adding another option on the formatter and globally (for user images) with just a checkbox ("placeholder will retain image dimensions") or something to that effect.
